3D Insight

Exploiting the technical advantages of 3D technology

Alongside our excellent 3D design capabilities, Berry & Escott have recognised the significant advantages that 3D Scanning and 3D Printing offer in providing additional technical insight and potential cost benefits.

3D Design

Berry & Escott's team of Solidworks specialist engineers can create virtual 3D models from a variety of file formats, including:

Solidworks / Parasolid / SolidEdge / VDA / SAT (ACIS solids) / CADL / ASCII / AutoCAD (DXF, DWG, Inventor apt files) / STL / STEP / IGES / Pro-E

With leading-edge design facilities, we are able to simulate different design scenarios to meet our customers' build requirements, budget and environment before manufacture gets underway.

Our 3D Scanning and 3D Printing capabilities perfectly enhance the design function, enabling us to:

  • detect minute site characteristics / unforeseen installation issues, before they impact on project costs (3D scanning)
  • produce low-cost scaled models for pre-flight analysis (3D printing)

3D Scanning

Berry & Escott’s cutting-edge 3D scanning capabilities deliver high-precision 3D image capture; eliminating often costly and time consuming issues before they arise.

Ideally suited to the industry sectors we work across, our fleet of FARO scanners can be deployed to site to collect essential data on build, installation or retrofitting projects prior to design and fabrication.

With the ability to detect unforseen site specific characteristics, structural deviations and environmental abnormalities within a +/- 1mm tolerance, our engineers can confidently acquire, process & validate this scanning data with pin-point accuracy.

Multiple scans of an area can be carried out and stitched together using our powerful analysis software, reducing noise and giving an unrivalled overview of a project.

Our portable, long-range scanners not only minimise the need for manual measurement & data analysis, they can be used in potentially hazardous & ‘non contact’ environments, reducing inherrent Health & Safety concerns.

3D Printing

Berry & Escott's 3D printing capabilities enable us to create prototypes and preview machining & fabrication projects.

This facility allows our design team to offer additional technical insight across a variety of engineered solutions. Complimenting our state-of-the-art design, machining and fabrication services, our printers can rapidly bring digital blueprints to life in conveniently sized 3D models. We are able to create accurate, working models from all digital design file formats.

This in-house service allows for multiple ‘hands on’ iterations of a project to be analysed, validated & tested prior to moving forward to the machining or fabrication phase.

Used in conjunction with our specialist design capabilities, 3D modelling can provide greater production insight in the early stages of a project. Produced from PLA filament, custom-made 3D models can be produced for both engineering analysis or demonstration purposes.

From machining of single component parts, multiple-part assemblies or scaled overviews of complex fabricated structures; our 3D printing capabilities deliver lead time & cost advantages to our customers.
